Agartala, July 17: Tripura joined other parts of the country in the destruction of illegal drugs.
This initiative took place in conjunction with the National Conference on Drug Trafficking and National Security: Focus on the Northern Region, chaired by Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah in New Delhi.
The entire drug destruction process was broadcasted live nationwide and overseen by the Union Home Minister himself.
Under strict security measures in place, drugs worth Rs. 9.31 crores were destroyed at RK Nagar in the outskirts of Agartala.
The High-Level and State-Level Drug Disposal Committees in Tripura organized and executed the drug destruction, targeting substances that had been confiscated by various security agencies in the state in the recent past.
The drugs disposed today included 5,473.12 kilograms of Ganja (cannabis) valued at Rs. 2,73,65,600, 5,138 bottles of Codeine-based Cough Syrup valued at Rs. 9,55,668, 19,313 Yaba tablets valued at Rs. 9,65,650, and 6,381.43 grams of heroin valued at Rs. 6,38,14,300.
