The match which was initially scheduled to be played in Kolkata has been shifted to Shillong due to “security concerns” in the wake of the widespread protests against the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

On Wednesday, the Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) also extended its best wishes to Shillong Lajong FC as they take on East Bengal FC in the Durand Cup 2024 quarterfinal match at 7pm.
