Williamnagar, Aug 14: PHE Minister Marcuise N. Marak on Monday inaugurated the Darimgre Water Supply Scheme (DWSS) and presented the Handing Over Certificate to the village president.
The Darimgre Water Supply Scheme was sanctioned under the Jal Jeevan Mission in December 2022 for an amount of Rs. 1.28 crore. Construction work started in January 2023 and was completed by July 2023.
The Darimgre village falls under the Samanda C&RD Block and is located about 7 kilometres from Williamnagar town, with 110 households.
Speaking on the occasion, the PHE Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in India. He also thanked Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for supporting the initiatives of JJM.
He further acknowledged the instrumental role played by the JJM officials of PHE, for making the Darimgre Water Supply functional in a short span of time.
He urged the villagers to properly care for the tank and to use the water wisely. He also requested them not to waste the water.
Also present on the occasion were Superintending Engineer of Simsanggre Circle, Jebulun M. Sangma, Executive Engineer of Simsanggre Division, Sujeet P. Marak, SDO of PHE, Simsanggre Division, Tengchrang G. Momin, and SDO of Rongjeng Sub-Division, Sengkam P. Marak.
