Shillong, Dec 21: East Khasi Hills district administration on Friday promulgated Section 163 BNSS prohibiting illegal gambling and other illegal activities at Lum Shyllong (Shillong Peak) and also illegal collection of fees (entry/parking) from the public at Lum Shyllong (Shillong Peak) during the New Year celebration.
The order was issued following information received that illegal gambling and other illegal activities has been going on at Lum Shyllong (Shillong Peak) every year on the New Year Day and also illegal collection of fees (entry/parking) being collected from the public.
“If such illegal practices is being allowed it may result to harassment of the public as well as it affects the sanctity and dignity of the Raid and the Hima Mylliem as a whole, hence section 163 BNSS is impose to prohibits illegal gambling and other illegal activities at Lum Shyllong (Shillong Peak) on the New Year Celebration day and also illegal Collection of Fees (Entry/Parking) from the Public at Lum Shyllong (Shillong Peak) on the New Year Celebration,” said the order.
The order stated that any violation to this order shall lead to prosecution under Section 188 of the BNS.
