Shillong, May 12: Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills RM Kurbah on Monday encouraged the youth to join the Indian Army and announced the launch of a free coaching camp to help them clear the recruitment process.
Addressing media persons, Kurbah said, “We want to encourage more youth to join the Indian Army. We requesting them to register with our office as we will be conducting the free coaching camp for 30 to 45 days.”
According to her, the DC’s office has received applications from 40 aspirants to join the coaching programme.

ADC Shanborlang Warjri said the intention of the district administration to impart the pre-recruitment cum training is simply to equip the youth who are appearing for the upcoming common entrance exams (CEE) with the required knowledge, skills and approach.
“Our youth are good in terms of physical fitness – they can always clear the physical fitness – but to clear the exams most of the youth especially from rural areas do not have the knowledge or information or the approach – so through this programme, we will be imparting and providing them the syllabus for the exams and also we will be helping them to solve the previous question papers so that they know the syllabus and they know the approach on how to solve as that would increase the percentage of passing out candidates,” he stated.
He also informed, “In 2023 when we introduced this free coaching programme, we had shortlisted and trained about 200 candidates and of these, 82 cleared the common entrance exams just because of the right coaching that we have provided. Finally, 35 of 82 got jobs and cleared the physical fitness exams.”

This year, Warjri said since 1900 odd candidates have already appeared and 40 of them have already registered for the coaching programme.
“We would encourage them to come in DC office in room 319, we would advise them to come before May 15 so that we can guide them on the coaching process so that they are being guided in a proper manner so that they clear the common entrance exams to be held in last week of June or first week of July. The coaching will be for 30 or 45 days and during this period, they will be provided with the required assistance to ensure they clear the exams (both CEE and physical fitness exams),” he added.
