Shillong, June 30: The 9th Meghalaya State Shooting Championship 2024 concluded on Sunday, with the East Khasi Hills team emerging as the winner with 33 medals and West Garo Hills team taking the second spot with 8 medals.
The 5-day championship, which began on June 26, concluded at the Shooting Range in Shillong. It saw participation from shooters across the state, competing in various events like 10M Air Rifle, 10M Air Pistol, 25M Sports Pistol, 50M Free Pistol, and 50M Rifle Prone.
East Khasi Hills district emerged as the champions with 9 gold, 9 silver, and 15 bronze medals, followed by West Garo Hills winning 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals; Ri Bhoi won 3 medals – 2 gold and 1 silver; and West Jaintia Hills won 1 medal, being a gold medal. Meanwhile, West Khasi Hills did not win any medal.

– Bongacheng Marak: Silver medal in 50m Rifle Open Sight Men Individual Online
In the team events, the pair of Kopal Dubey and Khrawboklang Jyrwa won gold in the 10M Rifle Mixed Team event, while Thomas and Maw won gold in the 10M Pistol Mixed Team event.
The championship came to a close with a grand closing ceremony, where the winners were felicitated with medals and certificates. The event was attended by dignitaries from the Meghalaya Shooting Association and the state government.
