Shillong, June 1: Minister in-charge of education Rakkam A Sangma on Thursday said the department will soon review the poor result of the SSLC and HSLC examinations conducted by MBOSE.
Sangma said, “The overall performance of the state and particularly the Garo Hills region is not up to the standard that we expect. It is something that the state and head of department are concerned (about), so we will be sitting first in Garo Hills to review the overall performance and we will constitute committee to see the bottom line and issues.”
Sangma stated that the education department already had a committee yet it will form another committee in which teachers and experts will be members to review the overall performance of the results conducted by MBOSE.
He added that the reasons for the dropouts have to be addressed and the department will also look into the infrastructure, quality of teaching and other factors that need to be addressed to solve the rise of dropouts in the state.
“We will sit and review the functioning of the department especially for the Garo Hills region as most dropouts and issues related to education are in Garo Hills region,” he added.
