Tura, July 7: The 6th Edition of the Friendly Motocross Challenge 2024 roared into action on July 5th and 6th in Molmegre which is 43 kilometers from Tura, West Garo Hills.
Organized by Durama Motorsports and Adventure Club, the event drew 30 participants from across the Garo Hills region over the two-day period.
Riders competed in various categories, including Beginners, Novice, Expert, 2 Stroke, Open, Scooty, and Legend. The muddy track provided an exciting backdrop as motorcycles and scooters zipped through the slush and mud in the competition area.
Standout performers included Salgira T. Sangma (Bajong), who claimed first place in both the Beginners and Novice categories. Evander M. Sangma (Molmegre) dominated the Expert and Open categories, while Tenzy Sangma showcased versatility with strong finishes in the 2 Stroke (1st), Open (3rd), and Legend (2nd) categories.

Speaking to Hub News, John Huberth D Sangma, a Member of the Club, said, “We organize this kind of event 3-4 times in the year. The purpose of this kind of event is to make an impact in the tourism sector. We want people from other states to come to see our landscapes, meet our tribe, and also seek adventure via motorbiking in Garo Hills. “
He added, “We are planning for the national event to open to all motorcyclists from all parts of the trycountry soon. We will notify about it soon.”
Notably, the Garo Hills has witnessed many such events, making the youth and experts practice hard the whole year to get into podiums and receive medals. As there are few motorcycle clubs in the region, such events show the bond and sportsmanship among the riding community.
