Tura, July 28: The Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Jagdish Chelani on Friday said no rally or gathering has been called by any group. He said this after a message was circulated on social media claiming that the group was organising a rally in the district.

According to the notice issued by the Deputy Commissioner, ” the message/news circulating on WhatsApp and other social media about a rally or gathering called by the group at Te’teng A’ja College Field is fake.”

The notice also asked people to not visit, travel or gather at the said location.

Chelani urged the public not to believe such rumours and assured that strict action would be taken against those spreading false information.

This comes days after mob attacked the CMO in Tura, injuring several personnel.
