Shillong, April 3: As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, Faith Foundation (a non-profit organisation) based in Shillong launched the “My Safe” Campaign on Monday at Meadow Hall, Shillong.

Faith Foundation (FF), led by a dedicated team of young women professionals of the Indigenous Khasi tribe, is working to ensure the safety of children and adolescents since 2013.

Co-founder and Director of Faith Foundation, Shannon Dona Massar while speaking to reporters said that in the last 10 years Faith Foundation has been working in schools to educate students about “safe and unsafe” touches.

“We feel that children need to know, need to understand so that they can protect themselves,” said Massar, adding that the children also need to know that they need to report such incidents to someone

She also stated that the highest percentage of child sexual abuse happens at home.

Massar further urged the government to adopt and implement “Personal Safety education” in all the schools in the state.

Faith Foundation has been engaging in identifying various issues faced by children of that age group, to understand the fundamental causes of it, followed by a participatory need assessment and there on designing a curriculum.

It may be mentioned that Faith Foundation was recently awarded the Rovert D. Stillman Dignity Award 2023 from the Global Fund for Children in recognition for its work it has done in the last ten years.
