Tura, June 1: A man shot dead his own niece who he brought up from childhood after she left home to escape his demand for a physical relationship. Shortly after murdering the young woman he killed himself with a fatal gunshot.

The incident took place on 31st May 2022 at around 5:30 pm in the village of Dakolgre under Gasuapara block in South Garo Hills district.

Police came to know of the terrible crime after the Nokma of Dakolgre village along with some villagers appeared at the Gasuapara police station and reported the incident on Tuesday night.

They reported that that one Nibarson Ch Sangma, aged 52 years of Dakolgre, Post Office and Police Station of Gasuapara, South Garo Hills shot dead his own niece aged 21 years and identified as Grikmanchi R Marak who happened to be married to Bestin G Momin of the same village.

The girl was taking a bath in the village stream at around 5:30 in the evening when the accused uncle went to the site with a loaded country made muzzle shot gun and opened fire.

She died on the spot from the gunshot wound.

After committing the crime, the accused shot himself with another country made shotgun he brought along. He died from his injuries.

When police reached the site they found the blood stained bodies of the girl and the killer.

During preliminary enquiry villagers revealed to police that the girl had been brought up by the killer since childhood.

However as she attained adulthood, the uncle began to set his lustfull eyes on her and wanted to keep her to himself to satisfy his evil physical urges.

Despite taking a husband to be her life partner, the sexual predator continued to torment her as a result of which she left the house with her husband in April of this year and villagers arranged a separate house for the couple.

Unable to get his way with the victim and angry at being abandoned, this psychopath decided to take revenge and attacked her on Tuesday after following her to the stream when she went to have a bath.
