Guwahati, Jan 19: Jorhat police has reportedly filed an FIR against the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ and its primary organiser K.B. Byju on Friday for allegedly deviating from its permitted routes inside Jorhat town in Assam on Thursday.
The walk took an alternate route in town instead of going down Jorhat’s K.B. road as approved, resulting in a “chaotic situation” in the vicinity.
The FIR stated that the Yatra did not adhere to district administration regulations and breached road safety standards.
The Assam section of the march will continue until January 25. It will travel 833 kilometers over 17 districts.
The Yatra, led by the Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, commenced from Manipur on January 14 and will culminate on March 20 in Mumbai.
