First Annual Conference of United Bodo People's Federation (UBPF) held in Guwahati

Guwahati, February 3: The United Bodo People’s Federation (UBPF) held its first annual conference in Guwahati. The conference focused on promoting the education, literature, and culture of the Bodo and Kachari communities, especially for those living outside the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

This two day-long program was organized on 1st and 2nd February 2025 at Socio, Literary Cultural Complex, Bodo Sahitya Sabha Open Field, Bathopuri, Guwahati.

On the second day of the programme, a public meeting was organized with Bodo folk dance performance was held. Bodo women activists, political leaders, teachers, students and many others, were present for two days occasion.

Almost 4000 delegates, observers and guests from 24 districts of Assam, and BTR participated in this two-day program.

United Bodo People’s Federation is a non political democratic Bodo nationalism federation, founded by a special conference on 4 June 2023 at Balaji Mandir Auditorium Hall, Betkuchi, Guwahati, Kamrup (M) Assam. Its objective is to unite the indigenous Bodo Kachari tribal people living outside BTR, protect and develop a vibrant socio-economy. Also to preserve culture, tradition, language, literature, educational, political rights and to strengthen and promote Bodo nationhood, unity, peace, prosperity and survival.

Babu Boro, General Secretary of UBPF, Assam said, “even outside BTC, the Bodo population is more than 10 lakhs. That is why the Assam government has given us a council to look after the Bodo people. Under that council, we formed an association. The name of this organization is United Bodo People’s Federation. This is a non-political organization. We are not a political organization. Through this organization, we will take forward our caste, language, costume, culture, religion, everything through this organization.”
