The death comes on the same day the government released its scientific findings relating to the Genome Sequencing of the Covid infection samples taken from Meghalaya.

The results show that a majority of all the infections were caused by the presence of the mutated Covide-19 virus that has already been considered highly infectious and deadly. In fact the World Health Organization has announced that this latest mutated virus are Varients of Concern (VoC) for being identified as a highly transmissible variant.

In the light of this tragedy and the presence of these Variants of Concern, the district administration has issued a strong advisory appealing to all citizens to follow the standard covid protocols to stop spread of infection and guard oneself from the disease through social distancing, hand washing, wearing of masks and taking the vaccination.

“Covid cases are being reported in kids as well during this second wave of the pandemic. Today we lost a young four year old girl child due to covid related complications. May her soul rest in peace and may God give strength to the bereaved family,” a shocked and sad DC Tembe announced.

He also issued a strong advisory to the people to defeat the disease and stop the infections.

“I am requesting all to immediately report to the hospital in case of covid symptoms and also requesting every parent to sensitize children about the disease and encourage them to adhere to appropriate covid behavior. Please avoid taking kids to crowded areas such as markets for the time being. Help us to help you!” urged DC Tembe on a day 26 fresh infections were reported from the district.
