Ampati, Oct 30: In a major achievement since the creation of Ampati Civil Hospital in South West Garo Hills, the first ever Hernioplasty surgery was successfully performed on a patient from the district by the doctors and staff of the hospital on October 27, 2021.

The patient is stable and on the road to recovery.

The patient could not afford to go for surgery outside the district so the doctors had to take the decision to operate upon the patient at Ampati hospital and they conducted the surgery with the help of a renowned Anaesthesiologist  (retired) from Tura, Dr. Greena K Marak.

It may be recalled that Ampati Civil Hospital was inaugurated in December 2016, by former Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma. This first ever major and successful surgery in the hospital is a significant milestone not only for the medical fraternity of the State but will also be a ray of hope for the people of South West Garo Hills district, in particular.
