Tura, April 6: The Meghalaya Basketball Association in collaboration with the District Basketball Association rolled out the first phase of selection trials for the Meghalaya U-18 Basketball Teams for men women for Garo Hills Region on Saturday .
This selection trials was in the preparation for the upcoming participation in the 74th Junior Basketball Championship, set to take place in Indore next month.
The trials were held at the Don Bosco College basketball court. The U-18 basketball trials aims to identify the most promising young talents. The trials exclusively focused on participants hailing from the Garo Hills District Region, underlining the importance of local talent development.
29 young aspirants from various corners of the Garo Hills region which included 21 boys and eight girls took part in the trials. The young talents showcased their skills and determination to secure a spot in the prestigious Meghalaya U-18 Basketball team. The trials were conducted by seasoned coaches and scouts, keen on identifying potential stars.
After the scrutiny of the participants only six exceptional young talents were selected four boys and two girls made it to the next phase of the trials which will be held in Shillong.
Among the boys, the selected players were Asim Jakrikra D Marak from East Garo Hills, Milo Arengh from East Garo Hills, Jaisen M Sangma from West Garo Hills and Jordan G Momin from North Garo Hills.
Among the girls the selected candidates were Tengsilchi B Marak from West Garo Hills and Mechira N Sangma from South Garo Hills.
