Itanagar, June 26: Five students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bordumsa, a town in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, have been suspended for ragging with the guardians holding the school administration, particularly the Principal, responsible for the incident.
An incident of ragging by 11th standard students, resulting in injuries to around two dozen 8th standard students at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bordumsa, on Tuesday afternoon has led to anger and shock.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 2 PM, after school had ended and students were having lunch.
The boarding school accommodates 530 students and 18 teachers.
School Principal Rajiv Ranjan said five students have been suspended based on the decision of a disciplinary committee that convened following the incident.
The injured students, who were subjected to both physical and mental torture, have received preliminary treatment.
Ranjan also mentioned that a meeting of the school’s Parent Teacher Council (PTC) has been scheduled for today to discuss further actions. He said the suspended students would be handed over to their parents at 9 AM today.
Disturbing visuals of the incident have surfaced, highlighting the severity of the physical torture inflicted on the young teenagers by some unruly students.
Guardians have held the school administration, particularly the Principal, responsible for the incident and demanded strict action against both the guilty students and the school administration.
