Shillong, June 18: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has demanded establishment of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) in East Jaintia Hills District.
In a letter to the convener of the State Level Bankers Committees (SLBC) on Tuesday, FKJGP’s EJH president Deihok Sumer said, “In order to curb this jobless issue of the youth of our district, it (is) highly requested of your office to establish the RSETIs at our district to be a silver lining to them.”
“That with the establishment of the aforesaid training institute at our district, it will enhance the job placement at various institutions, and even make the youth to start up his or her new venture of work as per their skills achieved during the course of their training at the said training institution,” he reasoned.
He further said the youth, after acquiring skills in the institute, can become self-reliant and become entrepreneurs. This way, they will also be able to create job opportunities for other unemployed youth who are struggling to get government jobs.
