Shillong, March 19: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) on Wednesday demanded the immediate recruitment for filling up the vacant posts in the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL).
A delegation of the FKJGP also submitted a memorandum to the power minister Abu Taher Mondal for his necessary intervention into the matter.
Speaking to reporters, FKJGP president Dundee C Khongsit said that there are almost about 130 sanction posts for the post of Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE)/Assistant Engineer (AE) and 125 sanction post of Junior Engineer (J E) in the Electrical/ Mechanical Cadres and the Sub Cadres, i.e. Electronics and Computer Engineers under MePDCL based from the restructuring of the MePDCL 2023 issued vide Office Order on July 12, 2023, which still remain vacant in the MePDCL.

He informed that the slow process of the recruitment for the Technical Staff by the MePDCL does not only hamper the smooth functioning of the department but it also deprived the Job Opportunities for the thousands of qualified unemployed youths within our state.
“In this regard the FKJGP is demanding the Power department to immediately intervene in this matter at the earliest,” Khongsit said.
Asked, Khongsit said the minister has assured the delegation to look into the matter.
