Shillong, July 22: Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) president, Dundee C Khongsit, on Monday announced that the organization has received two notices from the police concerning their ongoing drive to check the documents of migrant laborers.
Speaking to reporters, Khongsit emphasized that government inaction had forced the FKJGP to undertake this initiative independently.
Khongsit stated that the organization conducts checks in various localities, particularly those suspected of harboring illegal migrants.
Despite the two notices already issued to FKJGP members, Khongsit anticipates more as the group will continue with its document verification.
He said the FKJGP is deeply concerned about the influx issue and committed to ongoing drives until a robust mechanism to control the influx is established.
