Shillong, Sept 10: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has warned of ‘aggressive agitations’ if the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo continues to persist with show cause notices to the leaders of the Sur Ki Nong Mawlai for organizing protests in Mawlai area of Shillong City.

Condemning the decision of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) to issue show cause notices to the leaders of the Sur Ki Nong Mawlai, FKJGP vice president, Eldie N Lyngdoh on Thursday said the organization will not be just be a mere spectator on the attempt of the DC to ‘abuse’ her power by issuing show cause to the leaders of the Sur Ki Nong Mawlai, who have been protesting peacefully.

“Till date we have not seen that the protest called by the forum had led to any law and order break down but this decision of the DC will only add fuel and if anything happens who will take responsibility,” Lyngdoh said.

He further warned, “If the DC continues to bulldoze or order the arrest of the leaders, the FKJGP will have no other option but to call for aggressive agitations across the state.”
