SHILLONG, Dec 28: Retired DHS (Govt. of Meghalaya) Dr. Rita Tariang formally joined BJP Meghalaya and was welcomed into the party’s fold by state president Rickman Momin, in the presence of state vice presidents Khrawboklang Basaiawmoit, Gagan Jain and Wankitbok Pohshna, state General Secretary Everist Myrsing and state secretary Dr. Bernadette Lyngdoh.
Speaking on the occasion, Momin stated, “Dr. Tariang has had an immense amount of administrative experience and her efforts at expanding the health services amongst those who need it most is well known. The party will benefit from her experiences and her deep knowledge will help us better serve the people of Meghalaya”.
On what prompted her decision to join BJP, Dr. Rita Tariang said, “I realised that this is one party that works continuously for uplifting the poor and the needy, a fact exemplified by the wide range of health related schemes brought in by the Shri Narendra Modi led Central Govt. Consequently, BJP offers me a platform wherein I can continue to serve the people of Meghalaya even after my retirement.”
