Shillong, June 26: The incumbent MDC of Shella constituency Tainwell Dkhar, passed away on Wednesday morning.

Dkhar, a four-time MDC, also held the position of Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC). The last time he held the CEM position was in 2019.

Dkhar was first elected as an MDC in 2004. However, due to personal reasons, he had recently announced his decision not to seek re-election from the Shella MDC seat in 2024.
