Boko, December 28: The 63rd Bodo Sahitya Sabha’s (BSS) annual conference will be held from 19th January to 21st January, 2024 at Boko Gandhi Field. On this behalf, the Foundation pole (Laikhhuta) for the conference was erected by the Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Minister, Handloom & Textile and Sericulture along with other dignitaries on Wednesday.
On the eve of the foundation pole erected the flag of the Boro Sahitya Sabha was hoisted by the President of the Boro Sahitya Sabha, Dr. Surat Narzary.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Executive Member of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council Anil Basumatary, President of Reception Committee and Palashbari MLA Hemanga Thakuria, Vice-President of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) Ramakanta Rabha, RHAC Executive Member and Working president of the reception committee Nagarmal Swargiary, other RHAC executive members Aditya Rabha, Sonaram Rabha, Former MLA and advisor of the celebration committee Jyotiprasad Das and there are many prominent people of the area.
The event was moderated by the General Secretary of the 63rd BSS Reception Committee Bishnu Basumatary.
On this occasion, a public meeting was organised by the Reception Committee, where Dr. Surat Narzary gave his speech and urged each and every tribal and general people to take part in the upcoming conference. “Only co-operation between each other can develop every tribe and other communities living in the state of Assam.” added Narzary.
The meeting was presided over by the RHAC Executive Member and Working president of the reception committee Nagarmal Swargiary.
RHAC Vice president Ramakanta Rabha also gave assurance for full cooperation to succeed the conference. He also mentioned that the Rabha council already discussed the matter and the council will help financially for the book of remembrance and other matters too.
Assam Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma said in his speech, “the Boko area falls under the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, so Rabha people will help us along with other tribes and communities with mutual understanding and then the conference will be a success.”
He also expresses hope that the Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sharma will help to succeed the conference as he always offers help freely. “Regarding the Conference, if any kind of problem arises, Assam CM will solve the problem by discussing with BTR Chief and RHAC Chief or other hand.” added Minister Brahma.
“Even Pijush Hazarika, State minister of Information and Public Relation Minister also gave assurance to help in publications of advertisement of the conference” added Minister Brahma.
Brahma also said that before other people were scared to join in the BSS conferences, because if anyone raised discussion of Assam dividation or against the non Bodo people. Minister Brama clarified that these kinds of discussions never happened on the platform of BSS.
Minister Brahma also urged to support the conference and said, “Every tribal community and ethnic groups should support each other, so that all communities or groups can move forward. Only then can a community establish itself not only in its own territory but in the whole of India.”
Hemanta Boro, cultural convenor of the BSS reception committee said that more than 500 boys and girls with traditional colorful attires will perform Bodo traditional dances during the conference.
