Thaidawr Hill and the adjacent village lie close to Phuldungsei in the Jampui Hills area along the disputed inter-state boundary. The development has reignited long-standing concerns over border demarcation.

Mizoram’s Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Lalthansanga, along with leaders of the influential student body Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), visited the site on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, to assess the situation on the ground.

While acknowledging that road construction had occurred in the past as well, Lalthansanga admitted that the village had been neglected by Mizoram’s administration. He assured locals that the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government under Chief Minister Lalduhoma would take active measures to counter Tripura’s encroachment and push for the region’s development.

Meanwhile, the MZP team, led by President H. Lalthianghlima asserted that Thaidawr falls under Mizoram’s jurisdiction, citing a 1933 notification issued under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation of 1873.
