Shillong, April 5: Consistency is key to success, says Leisha Agarwal of St Margaret’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong.

Agarwal has shared the top position in the top twenty merit list with Avila Kathrene P Lyngdoh of North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Jowai in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination, the results of which were declared on Saturday.

Terming her achievement as a dream come true, Agarwal said, “It is a very overwhelming moment for me, I am still in shock as I couldn’t believe my eyes when I see the result. Since I entered class X, I always visioned myself that next year I will give the exam and one day I will see the result maybe in MBOSE top 20 and today that dream coming true is something very overwhelming.”

The St Margaret’s student also attributed her success to her parents, her teachers and friends.

“I thank my school and tuition teachers because without their support this would never be possible and even my family they have always supported me through my dark times, I am a very nervous person and they told me not t be scared and that everything will be fine,” she said adding “All thanks to everyone who were there for me in this journey, it is not a journey of my own but it is a journey of my teachers, my family and my friends. Thank you, St Margaret’s. Thank you is not enough to express of what that school has given me. This wouldn’t be possible without them, without teachers, our principal. I am really grateful. It is a dream come true.”

Sharing her success mantra, the topper said, “Consistency is key and put all your hard work.”

“My advice to the upcoming batches is you don’t need to be scared, you don’t need to be nervous, just go with the flow, just be consistent as consistency is key as we all say. Participate in everything. Don’t forget extra curricular activities as that is also extremely important but be consistent. Don’t take your studies as hectic duty, just be happy and study nicely, gain knowledge and don’t just memorize things,” she stated.

For Evanshan Nongrum of Sacred Heart Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shillong, who secured the second position, success was due to 7 hours of studying every day.

He has attributed the success to God and his teachers and said, “I did look at the CM Impact guidebook but I don’t depend on it…I depend on teachers and also determination and trust in God.”

Nongrum also shared his ambition and said, “As for now if God allows, I want to be a priest.”

On the other hand, Ranchita Paul of St Margaret’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong expressed joy and happiness for securing the sixth position and said, “We need to be honest with ourselves and while studying we should not get into any other distraction, if we study for 2 hours, we must study wholeheartedly.”

“I am very happy that the performance of the school is very good. I have been studying in St Margaret since nursery and it is my second home. I am happy that I can make all the sisters and teachers proud,” she stated.
