Tura, Dec 8: When dreams come true, the happiness is boundless. The joy gets multiplied by several fold when that dream has taken several years, several attempts, even failures and tons of grit and determination and physical and mental toil. The story of such an incredible perseverance is of Tura lad Pankaj Yadav, who recently cracked the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) examinations and secured an all India rank of 53.
The 26-year-old boy from Tura in West Garo Hills will soon be joining the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). With the dream of making it big in a career in the armed forces, he will be attending the National Industrial Security Academy in Hyderabad for training.
Pankaj Yadav cleared the UPSC CAPF (AC) Exam, 2023 for the post of an assistant commandant in CAPF’s CISF, SSB, BDF, CRPF and ITBP.
“I am overjoyed to crack the CAPF examination and I will be soon joining the CISF division. This is like a dream come true,” said Yadav with his eyes sparkling with joy.
Yadav has always harboured a desire to join the armed or police services. His main motivation was his father, H N Yadav, the officer-in-charge of the Phulbari Police Station in West Garo Hills.
“I have always been inspired by my father who is a police officer. His love for his duty and his disciplined nature was what prompted me to pursue a career in the police forces. I have always admired the police uniform, which represents service, dedication and sacrifice for the country,” he said.
Hence, after completing his SSLC from the Embee Rose Bud School in Tura in 2015, he passed his HSSLC from Kendriya Vidyalaya from Tura in 2017. However, his parents dreamt of him becoming an engineer. Being unable to secure a seat in the Indian Institutes of Technology, he pursued his Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences from the prestigious Hindu College in New Delhi and graduated in 2021.
“After graduation, I began preparing for the CAPF examination. I was unable to clear it in my first attempt in 2022. I had to work very hard to finally crack it this year,” he said.
It was equally important that a candidate appearing for this examination had to be physically fit. Yadav had to lose almost 20 kgs to pass the physical and medical test.
“I had gained a lot of weight during the lockdown and weighed 89 kgs. I started eating healthy and exercised. Over a period of months, I was able to reach my ideal weight of 71 kgs,” he said.
“I am very excited as I will soon be going to Hyderabad for training,” he added.
His father is a happy man now, beaming with pride at his son’s success. “I am really happy that he has cracked the CAPF examination. His efforts have finally yielded results,” said H N Yadav.
Pankaj Yadav’s story is one of many tales of hard work and perseverance to glory. His success story will undoubtedly inspire countless others in the region, especially Garo Hills, proving that with hard work and determination, no goal is too far out of reach.
