Shillong, July 1: Garo Hills may not have been able to clinch the top spot in the just conclude 9th Meghalaya State Shooting Championship 2024 in Shillong but few marksmen from the region have impressed with their skills. What is more, they are still young with a promising future.
The impressive performance by two NCC cadets, Emarian Tenganchi M Marak and Tengsilchi R. Marak, at the State level Shooting Championship is testimony to the potential the region holds.
Representing the West Garo Hills, Emarian Tenganchi M Marak bagged three bronze medals: 10m air rifle Championship Junior Women Individual; 10m air rifle Championship Youth Women Individual; and 50m rifle Open Sight Women Individual Offline.
Tengsilchi R. Marak, also representing West Garo Hills, was even more impressive as she clinched the gold medal in 50m Rifle Open Sight Women Individual Online.
The West Garo Hills Shooting Association (WGHSA) has nurtured the cadets and their success is sure to inspire and motivate other cadets to strive for excellence in shooting sports.
WGHSA was formed in 2018 and has already produced impressive shooters for the region and State. The fact that these two young cadets have already demonstrated their potential by winning medals in various events suggests that the association has the potential to produce many more talented shooters in the future.
The association had sent 8 shooters to the championship.

– Silver medal – 25m Centre Fire Pistol Senior Men Individual
Rangku N Sangma:
Gold medal – 10m air rifle Championship Master Men Individual
Bongacheng Marak:
Silver medal – 50m Rifle Open Sight Men Individual Online
