Shillong, Nov 23: Dr Mehtab Chandee A Sangma of the National People’s Party’s (NPP) is well on her way to record a historic win in Gambegre and raise the NPP flag in the constituency, which has traditionally been a Congress bastion.
After the end of round 3 of counting, she had polled a total of 11,072 votes; round 1 – 3392, round 2 – 3795, round 3 – 3885. In the process, she has also taken a massive lead of 3817 votes over her nearest rival, with just one more round of counting to go.
She is followed by AITC Candidate Sadhiarani Sangma, who has secured 2428 votes in round 3. After round 3, her total vote count is at 7258 votes.
Congress candidate Jingjang M Marak is at third spot with 2050 polled in his favour in round 3. After 3 rounds of counting, he has secured a total of 6736 votes.
BJP’s Bernard N Marak has made a decent progress in the third round by polling 287 votes and moving to the fourth spot with a total of 612 votes after three rounds of counting.
He is followed by independent candidate Jerry A Sangma with 570 total votes, securing 193 in round 3.
At the last spot is Sengkrabirth M Marak with a combined total of 129 votes after 3 rounds of counting.
Round 3 also accounted for 26 NOTA votes, taking total NOTA votes to 84.
The results will be declared in 4 rounds; 1 more round to go.
After three rounds of counting, a total of 26,461 votes have been accounted for. Round 1 – 8433, Round 2 – 9113, and Round 3 – 8915 votes.
Gambegre has 33088 votes, of which 90.93 percent voters exercised their right to franchise in November 13 polling.
