Shillong, Nov 23: National People’s Party’s (NPP) Dr Mehtab Chandee A Sangma has furthered her lead by over 2300 votes after the end of round 2 of counting for the Gambregre Bye-poll on Saturday.

In round 2, Dr Mehtab Chandee secured 3795 votes. Adding from her round 1 votes of 3392, she has secured 7187 votes after the completion of two rounds of counting. This has extended her lead over her nearest rival to 2357 votes.

She is followed by AITC Candidate Sadhiarani Sangma, who has secured 2539 votes in round 2. She secured 2291 votes in round 1, taking her total vote counts to 4830 after two rounds of counting.

At the third spot is Congress candidate Jingjang M Marak with 2407 votes in round 2. He polled 2279 votes in round 1. He’s secured total of 4686 votes after two rounds.

He is followed by independent candidate Jerry A Sangma with 113 votes in round 2. Adding to the round 1 votes of 264 votes, he has polled 377 votes after round 2.

He is followed by BJP’s Bernard N Marak with 174 votes in round 2. He polled 151 votes in round 1, taking total votes polled to 325 votes after two rounds.

At the last spot is Sengkrabirth M Marak with a combined total of 83 votes from round 1 and 2. In round 1 he secured 37 votes and in round 2 he got 46 votes.

Round 2 also accounted for 39 NOTA votes, taking total NOTA votes to 58.

The results will be declared in 4 rounds; 2 more rounds to go.

After two rounds of counting, a total of 17,546 votes have been accounted for. Round 1 – 8433 and Round 2 – 9113 votes.

Gambegre has 33088 votes, of which 90.93 percent voters exercised their right to franchise in November 13 polling.
