Tura, Oct 12: The Garo Autonomous Council Demand Committee (GACDC) hosted the 1st Garo National Convention at Bakrapur, Assam, showcasing the determination of the Garo community in pursuit of their aspirations.

This event witnessed a turnout of over 10,000 individuals from the Garo community in attendance, attesting to the collective strength and unity prevailing within the community.

During the meeting, leaders of the Garo Autonomous Council Demand Committee unanimously passed a resolution to intensify efforts in strengthening the demand for the establishment of the Garo Autonomous Council. They affirmed that the pursuit will continue unabated until the government accedes to their demand.

The Committee is advocating for a structure that empowers and represents the community effectively, and addresses the aspirations and rights of the Garo people.
