Agartala,July 9: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, in a goodwill gesture has sent 980 kg of pineapples to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday, said an Official.

This comes almost a month after Hasina had sent 500 kg of mangoes to Tripura chief minister on June 15.

The box with over 100 boxes of specially plucked ‘kew’ variety of pineapples were handed by Director of Horticulture Department, P B Jamatia to officials at the Assistant High Commission of India, Chittagong on Saturday.

While speaking to reporters, Jamatia said, “the CM, as part of goodwill gesture, sent 980 kg of pineapples to Prime Minister Hasina.”

He said, “We are honoured to send the gift.”

He further said that the ‘kew’ variety of pineapples are unique for their taste, smell and size.
