Shillong, Dec 30: The government is intensifying efforts to enhance National Highway-6 (NH-6) by allocating an additional Rs. 90 crore for critical infrastructure improvements, including the construction of bridges, retaining walls, and other essential works previously excluded from the project. A tender for these upgrades will be floated soon, ensuring the comprehensive rehabilitation of the highway.
Sutnga-Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla has assured that repair and construction activities along NH-6, extending up to Malidor, are progressing as planned and are expected to be completed by March 2025.
The repair work has already advanced to the Sonapur area, with ongoing construction steadily moving towards Malidor. To expedite the process, authorities implemented a 10-day road closure earlier, allowing for more efficient execution of repairs.
The additional funding, secured through the upcoming tender, is set to accelerate the pace of work on critical infrastructure components, ensuring the long-term safety and usability of the highway.
