SHILLONG, FEB 20: Deputy Chief Minister incharge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday informed the Assembly that the government has approved creation of Rajabala Fire and Emergency Service Station in West Garo Hills District vide a notification issued on February 7.

This is one significant measure taken to minimise such untoward incidents and prompt arrival of fire services on the spot, Tynsong said in his reply during the Assembly.

He said that the total number of fire incidents that broke out from Gomaijhora to Rajabala during the year 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 are eight.

The fire services were not able to reach the spot on time due to delayed reports and the considerable distance from the place of occurrence to the nearest first station.

Tynsong said the total number of incidences of clash occurred with the general public and the fire services personnels due to the delayed arrival of fire services to the spot in these areas during the past three-four years (from 2020 – 2023) are two incidents at Bhaitbari Bazar on January 25,2020 and Rajabala Bazar on April 7, 2023.
