Shillong, July 10: Meghalaya government has instituted a committee headed by the Chief Secretary to examine the demands for creation of new districts, civil subdivisions and blocks in the state.
“We will wait and see the recommendations made by the committee,” Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma informed on Friday.
Responding to a query on the demand for upgradation of Sohra to a new district, he said, “We are examining each of the demands…as we have made it very clear that we want to take the administration closer to the people.”
He said that there are some issues in relation to Sohra which they are trying to resolve.
