Shillong, July 10: Meghalaya government has decided to investigate the alleged rice scam by a single member independent inquiry committee to be headed by a retired Judge of High Court.
The Chief Secretary has been tasked to find out the names of retired Judges of High Court to select the one-member committee. The committee will be given three months time to complete the inquiry.
Informing this here on Friday, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said he has issued an order to constitute a single-member independent inquiry into the social welfare department’s matter regarding the rice and the quality of the food products which was raised by different quarters.
