Govt to construct mini secretariat in Tura and Jowai soon

Shillong, Nov 6: As the festive season heralds, the Government announced the establishment of mini secretariats across the 11 districts in Meghalaya. This perhaps will be considered the biggest announcement as the Government makes an endeavor to bring administration and governance closer to the public.

“We will be setting up mini secretariats across the State, to begin with in Tura and Jowai – the oldest districts in the State. In Tura and Jowai, the construction of the mini secretariats will start soon,” informed Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.

He said that the Government today held a review meeting to finalize the proposals for the establishment of mini secretariats across the State.

“The mini secretariats will house the office of Deputy Commissioners and all other important departments from the district,” Tynsong added.

“We have decided to establish the mini secretariats to improve the administrative control of the government,” he informed, while elaborating that the current DC office in Tura and Jowai is not enough to cater to the needs of the public.

“When we talk about mini secretariat… we want all departments in the districts to be easily accessible to the public, almost similar to the Shillong Secretariat at the district level. So that people can visit different offices under one roof for redressal of their works,” Tynsong asserted.

“Government had a thorough examination regarding the establishment of the mini secretariats. In a phased manner, it will be set up in all districts of the State,” he further told.
