Govt to fill up vacant posts in state departments

Shillong, Feb 28: The state government said it is committed to ensure that all vacancies in various departments are filled in a timely manner.

In the education department, a total of 1,091 teacher posts were advertised and the recruitment process has been completed. The process for recruiting nearly 800 more teachers is underway, Governor CH Vijayashankar said while delivering his address in the Assembly on Friday.

Since the formation of the Meghalaya Medical Services Recruitment Board in 2023, a total of 468 vacancies of doctors and dental surgeons have been filled and the process of recruitment of nurses is also nearing completion, he said.

In Meghalaya police, the governor said recruitment of over 3000 vacancies is in the process of completion.

Further, various district selection committees are also in the process of completing the recruitments.

The governor also mentioned that the government has issued standard operating procedures for time bound recruitment in Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) to avoid delays in intimation of vacancies and declaration of results.

A committee has also been notified to look into the functioning of the MPSC and recommend reforms, he added.
