Shillong, Feb 4: Minister of Community & Rural Development AT Mondal on Tuesday said creation of new C&RD blocks is a continuous process.
Addressing media persons, Mondal said, “It is a continuous process. As and when the government feels that it is necessary to open the (new) blocks naturally we will go (for it). We will have to see the demand of the people and also the resources from the state government.”
Referring to the recent inauguration of Mawhati block, the minister said the block is located in the remotest part of the state.
“Many people had to travel around 80-100 km to reach the block headquarter and that’s how the Chief Minister thought that it is high time that Mawhati should have a block so that all development activities are done locally and that’s how this block has been established there,” he said.
Asked, Mondal said demands for creation of new blocks are always there and the same are being studied by the government for consideration.
