Shillong, June 30: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday expressed his concerns on the death of two Garo youth from Nagaland.

Sangma told Hub News that he has spoken to Late Samuel Sangma’s family in Dimapur over phone and has assured to take up the matter with concerned authorities.

“I have been informed that two Garo youth from Nagaland have died in Haryana, one while undergoing treatment in a hospital and the other allegedly committed suicide. I am deeply saddened to hear about their demise. This is very unfortunate incident. I have been in touch with leaders of Nagaland in Delhi as well with leaders of Nagaland Garo Tribal Council. I have also spoken to his family and have expressed our concerns,” he said.

Sangma said the family is yet to file an FIR as they were occupied with the last rites of their son, who was found dead in mysterious circumstances at a hotel in Gurugram.

“As a leader from Northeast, I have told Late Samuel’s father that I will be ready to extend any help to the family and they can be in touch with me,” he added.

Late Samuel Sangma was found hanging at a hotel in Gurugram on Friday, following the death of his aunty Rosy Sangma, who died at a private hospital while undergoing treatment. A viral video posted by Late Samuel Sangma had alleged that Rosy Sangma died after eating ice cream offered by the hospital authorities.

She was having body pain and was admitted in the hospital, the viral body filmed by Late Samuel claimed. He also claimed in the video that her aunty Late Rosy was recovering and suddenly died after eating the ice cream.

The death of the duo has sparked social media uproar with citizens from across Northeast seeking justice for Samuel and Rosy.

A candle light vigil was held in Dainadubi, East Garo Hills for them on Wednesday.
