Guwahati, July 22: Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, has reported a significant milestone in its international travel sector, with Bangkok emerging as the most popular overseas destination in the first quarter of 2024-25.
This trend comes amidst an overall growth in passenger numbers, as the airport processed over 1.49 million travelers during this period. This number is 2.02% higher than the previous year for the same period.
As per the official data, among the 1.49 million passengers, 1.48 million were domestic passengers, while over 15,000 passengers traveled internationally. With this, LGBIA handles over 500,000 passengers each month.
Guwahati Airport currently operates services to 28 domestic destinations, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Bangkok topped the list of the most traveled international destinations. The national capital was the most traveled domestic destination. It also operates flights to four international destinations, including Paro, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok.
Airport officials informed that the new integrated terminal building (NITB), currently under construction, is scheduled for completion in mid-2025. Built over 1.5 million sq ft, the terminal will accommodate 13.1 million passengers per annum.
