Guwahati, Jan 7: The Assam Book Fair for the year 2023-24 is currently underway, taking place from December 29 to January 9, 2024, spanning 12 days at Guwahati’s Chandmari Engineering field.

This event serves as a significant platform for students and has played a positive role in uniting young writers from various parts of Assam for intellectual discussions.

Organizers report a daily gathering of people, including students, who come to the fair to purchase a wide array of books.

An organiser said, the Assam book fair is organising by Publication Board Assam and All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers Association jointly in Guwahati every year.

Over Rs 2 crore books selling presently and this year almost 135 publisher were participated from the different states and Countries like Delhi, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Ranchi, Dhaka etc. in the Guwahati book fair.

Earlier, the Publication Board Assam and All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers Association jointly said by a press conference, this year, Assam Book Fair has been held in North Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, Silchar and Haflong along with Guwahati.

The book fair will be also organised in two lower Assam cities however, the place and time is yet to be fixed, the organizers informed.
