Imphal, Oct 28: A hand grenade was found front of the gate of GP Women’s Government College, Imphal accompanied by a warning note reading: “Down with the Fascist Education System, Honour the Rights of Proletarian Students’ Free Education Movement, Glory to the Proletarian Students.”

According to Manipur Police, pedestrians near the college gate on Central Jail Road, Imphal, noticed the grenade at approximately 6 a.m. A team from Imphal Police Station quickly arrived on the scene, and, given that the grenade’s lever had been detached, the Manipur Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in.

The BDS team successfully defused the device by around 6:40 a.m. Following standard safety protocols, the bomb was safely disposed of in the Lamphel Game Village area by approximately 7:20 a.m.

The motive behind the placement of the grenade and the identity of those responsible remain unknown. A case has been filed at Imphal Police Station for further investigation.
