Shillong, Oct 1: The Employment Cell of the Hynñiewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) has demanded the state government to come up with a law to ensure 80 percent job reservation for local people in all private sectors in the state.
Speaking to media persons after meeting the deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong here on Thursday, chairman of employment cell, W Sohtun, said “We have sought his (Tynsong) intervention into the need for the state government to come up with a law which seeks to ensure all private sectors have to implement 80% job reservation for the local youth of the state.”
He said this will to a great extent address the issue of unemployment faced by young and educated youth of the state.
When asked, Sohtun said that even the deputy chief minister has expressed concern on the unemployment scenario in the state and assured the delegation that the government will examine the matter. “The deputy chief minister has sought six months’ time to come up with some serious decision which will be taken by the cabinet pertaining to the unemployment scenario in the state,” he said.
