Hawakhana Sec. School, Tura Govt College & Don Bosco win Tura Inter School & College Cricket tournament

Tura, May 3: The Tura District Cricket Association’s Inter School and College Cricket Finals ended on Saturday at the Alotgre Cricket Ground in Tura, West Garo Hills.

In the Inter School final, Hawakhana Secondary School, Tura, was declared the winner after Bidanchi Secondary School gave a walkover and did not play the match.

In the Under-22 Boys Inter College final, Tura Government College (TGC) defeated Don Bosco College (DBC), Tura, by 24 runs. Batting first, TGC scored 139 runs for 7 wickets. Jhon Venny was the top scorer with 62 runs off 51 balls. For DBC, Keriabar and Zekiush took 2 wickets each. In reply, DBC managed 115 for 7 wickets. Keriabar scored 19 runs, while Jhon Venny and Thapa took 2 wickets each for TGC.

In the Girls’ Inter School and College final, Don Bosco College beat Tura Government College by 23 runs. Batting first, DBC scored 82 runs for 6 wickets, with Marme scoring 40 off 24 balls. Twinkle took 2 wickets for TGC. Chasing the target, TGC was all out for 59 runs. Tengchira scored 12 runs, while Teresha took 3 wickets for 14 runs and Kambesha picked up 2 for 7.

Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma graced the final as the Chief Guest, while Government Advisor H.M. Shangpliang and other dignitaries were also present at the final.
