Tura, April 19: A head-on collision between a Hyundai car and a Tata Winger taxi on Wednesday afternoon left several passengers injured in the North Garo Hills region.

The accident occurred at Gokul in Bajengdoba area, when the speeding Hyundai car, driving on the wrong side of the road, crashed into the Tata Winger taxi that was carrying multiple passengers from Krishnai in Assam to Tura.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Hyundai car was travelling at a high speed when it collided with the taxi. The impact of the accident caused serious injuries to three occupants of the car, leaving them in a grievous state. Several passengers from the Tata Winger taxi also suffered injuries, including two with head injuries.

While the driver of the car was left semi-conscious from the collision, the driver of the Tata Winger taxi fled the scene.

The injured passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
