Heritage Fest 2024: U.S. Ambassador Eric Garcetti Highlights Youth as Leaders of Today in Agartala

Agartala, Nov 27 :The third International Youth Festival, Heritage Fest 2024, hosted by Yuva Vikash Kendra (YVK) in partnership with Vishva Yuvak Kendra and Bajaj Foundation, marked a milestone moment on Wednesday with the visit of U.S. Ambassador to India, Eric M. Garcetti, at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala.

Accompanied by Kathy Giles-Diaz, Consul General of the U.S. Consulate in Kolkata, Ambassador Garcetti engaged in dynamic discussions with young participants representing 26 Indian states. The interaction offered a rare opportunity for the youth to gain international insights and broaden their global perspectives.

During his address, Garcetti emphasized the enduring partnership between India and the U.S., highlighting the pivotal role of youth in shaping the present and future of both nations. “Youth are not just leaders of tomorrow; they are leaders of today,” he stated, praising the vibrant energy and diverse talents on display.

Consul General Giles-Diaz echoed these sentiments, commending Yuva Vikash Kendra for fostering cross-cultural dialogue. “Heritage Fest serves as a bridge between India’s rich cultural legacy and the world, promoting both heritage and international integration,” she remarked.

YVK President Debashis Majumder warmly welcomed the U.S. delegation, expressing gratitude for their participation and highlighting the festival’s role in fostering international cooperation. Pinku Das, Organizing Secretary of YVK, extended an invitation to the upcoming Heritage Fest 2025, which the U.S. officials enthusiastically accepted, pledging to send a delegation of young Americans next year.

Heritage Fest 2024, a seven-day cultural extravaganza from November 21 to 27, has featured a rich array of workshops, competitions, and cultural performances, offering young participants a platform to connect, learn, and celebrate India’s diverse heritage.

Notable attendees included Sujit Ghosh, Assistant Director of VHAT, and Vinay Gupta from Chhattisgarh, further underscoring the festival’s wide-reaching impact.
