Dibrugarh, Dec 4: Members of the Hindu Kranti Dal (HKD) staged a protest at Thana Chariali in Dibrugarh on Wednesday, burning an effigy of Mohammad Yunus, chief advisor of Bangladesh’s interim government, in response to alleged atrocities against religious minorities in Bangladesh.
The protesters marched from the Hanuman Mandir near the old Dibrugarh railway station, chanting slogans against the Bangladesh government.
“We demand that the Bangladesh government immediately cease atrocities against Hindus. We also urge the Indian government to protect the rights of Hindus in Bangladesh. If permitted, we are ready to safeguard Bangladeshi Hindus,” said a HKD member.
The HKD further called on the Bangladeshi government to ensure the safety and security of all its citizens, including minorities, and to foster an environment where religious practices can be conducted freely.
