Tura, Mar 26: Bajengdoba is under acute shortage of doctors, President of A•chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) Bajengdoba Regional Unit Kollingwat Sangma in a representation has urged the Deputy commissioner of North Garo hills and District Medical Health Officer to look into the matter as the residence of the region are facing problems due to the shortage of doctors.
Bajengdoba P.H.C is the only PHC which caters to the total population of 36000 and there are only two doctors appointed to cater to their needs, but presently only one doctor is available to provide medical aid.
The shortage of doctors in Bajengdoba P.H.C has reached a critical level, and it is a challenging situation for patients and health care providers.
There is an increasing demand for medical services among the ageing population, the lack of available physicians is putting a strain on the health care system.
Speaking to Hub news Medical Officer stated that the shortage of Doctors is not in their hands, since they don’t have the power to appoint Doctors. Some of the doctors are appointed through North Garo hills district but they are transferred to West Garo hills, while holding dual charges as North Garo hills medical incharge also. He further stated the entire district is facing a shortage of primary care physicians and specialists in various fields such as gynaecologist, cardiology, oncology are also not available.
A holistic approach with the stakeholders at all levels will lead to a sustainable solutions to the ongoing crisis due to the shortage of doctors.
