Jowai, May 23: The Horti Fair cum Exhibition was participated by farmers from different villages to showcase their products and also to connect with customers and suppliers. The horticulture fair was held at Ladtadlaboh playground, Jowai on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner B. S Sohliya motivated the farmers to fully utilize the opportunity and urged them to get leverage from the platform.
The event was attended by D . C Sohtun, Director of Horticulture, S. Rani, District Horticulture officer, Jowai and Demandson Lyngdoh, Assistant Director of Horticulture amongst others.
The office had intiated awards for best products in various categories. In Potted House Foliage Plants and Creepers category, first prize and third prize was awarded to Lanalut-I Syngkon from Priang Village and second prize went to Christian Suchiang from Mulum village.
Lanalut-I Syngkon from Priang Village also bagged the first and third place in the Foliages category and Daplin Lyngdoh from Jowai secured second place in the fern category, Julie Ryngkhlem from Wapung village bagged the first prize, Lohkmen Phawa from Wahiajer and Emilin Talang from Nartiang village bagged the second and third place respectively.
In the Bonsai category Emborlang Phawa from Wahiajer secured the first prize while Sabina Syngkon from Lad- Mukhla and Willingly Litting got second and third place respectively.
